What data we collect
Almost nothing from our servers. crcls is designed to operate with your data stored locally on your device. Your contacts, relationship notes, cadence settings, and interaction history all live on your phone — not in a cloud database we own or control.
When you use AI-powered features such as message suggestions or the Relationship Coach, anonymised context is sent to process your request. This data is not stored on our servers and is not used for model training.
We may collect anonymised, aggregated crash and performance diagnostics to improve app stability. This data contains no personal information and cannot be traced back to you.
What we never do
- Sell, share, or trade your personal information with third parties
- Use your contact data, notes, or relationship context for advertising
- Upload your contacts to our servers
- Share your data with data brokers or analytics companies
- Access your data without a clear, disclosed purpose
How your contacts are handled
crcls requests access to your device's contacts solely to let you add people to your circles. Contact data is read locally and stored on-device. It is never uploaded to our servers.
You can revoke contact permissions at any time through your device settings. You can also manually delete any person from crcls independently of your device contacts — removing them from crcls does not affect your phone's address book.
Notifications and reminders
Nudges and reminders are generated on-device based on your cadence settings and relationship health. We do not use a push notification service that reads your relationship data — all notifications are triggered locally.
You can disable notifications entirely at any time through your device's notification settings or from within the app.
AI-powered features
Features like message suggestions and the Relationship Coach use AI to generate personalised responses. When these features are invoked, a minimal, anonymised version of the relevant context (such as the circle level and time since last contact) is sent to a language model for processing.
This data is not stored, logged, or used to train models. We use on-device intelligence wherever available and will continue expanding that capability as platforms allow.
Your right to delete
You are always in control. Because your data lives on your device, deleting the app removes it entirely. There is no server-side copy to request removal of.
Within the app, you can delete individual contacts, notes, or your full history at any time. These deletions are immediate and permanent.
Children's privacy
crcls is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy in a way that materially affects how your data is handled, we will notify you through the app before the changes take effect and give you time to review them.
We will never retroactively change how your existing data is handled without your explicit consent. Minor clarifications (such as fixing typos or improving readability) may be made without notice.
